Atty. Jason R. Barlis, CPA, was the Vice President for Administration of Saint Louis University (SLU), Baguio City, from 2016 to 2020. Prior to being appointed as Vice President, he served as the Dean of the SLU School of Law from 2014 to 2016. He was also a former Head of the Department of Remedial Law and Legal Ethics, and of the Department of Commercial and Taxation Laws, both of the SLU School of Law. He is likewise a law professor in the said school teaching Taxation, Commercial, and Remedial Laws. In the national scene, he actively gives bar review lectures on the subjects Taxation and Commercial Laws, presently affiliated with the Albano Bar Review Center and the ChanRobles Internet Bar Review.
Atty. Barlis is an alumnus of the SLU School of Law, graduating cum laude and class valedictorian in 2001. He became a member of the Philippine Bar in 2002. While taking up law, he was the Court Legal Researcher at the Regional Trial Court, Branch 62, La Trinidad, Benguet. He is a Certified Public Accountant, having been admitted to the accountancy profession in 1997. He graduated cum laude in his undergraduate course, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, also from SLU.
Atty. Barlis has been an active law practitioner from 2002 up to the present, and now has more than eighteen (18) years of experience in trial practice, handling various cases ranging from civil, criminal, administrative, labor, corporate and tax. Apart from litigation, he is also engaged in other areas of law practice, as well as corporate advisory services, various types of policy formulation, and tax advisory and services. And as a former administrator of SLU, the 2nd largest Catholic University in the country, Atty. Barlis has extensive knowledge of education laws, as well as relevant administrative issuances as they apply to educational institutions.
